Saint Tropez

St Tropez is well known today for its beautiful beaches, wonderful restaurants, cafes & bars and the enchanting streets of the town where you will find designer shops mixed with shops selling unusual items (the perfect place to buy something no one else will have).

The town name is derived from a legendry martyr named Saint Torpes. He is said to have been beheaded in Pisa during the reign of Nero, and his body placed in a boat with a rooster and a dog. The body landed at the present day location of the town.

There are many things to do in St Tropez, there are beautiful sites to see, wonderful local gastronomy and wine to be sampled and many sporting opportunities depending on how you like to spend your holiday time.

To visit in town

A boat tour is definitely something you should do and we would recommend is the Brigatin II. This is an excellent trip around the bay which will last for an hour, the guide speaks both English and French and you will see many celebrity Villas, beautiful scenery and Super Yachts.

On a Tuesday and Saturday there is a Provencal Market on Place de Lices from 0700 until 1300. Here you can buy many local specialities, fresh food and artisan pieces. There is also a Fish Market everyday throughout the year (this is the start of the old town). If you travel through this you will come into La Place aux Herbes, this was the old market place, today, during the season it is a busy area with displays of cheeses, fresh fruit, flowers and wines.

Such as Olives, Tapenade, L’Aioli, La Pissaladiere, La Bouillabaisse (fish soup), Moules Provencal, La Ratatouille are all available to buy in town.
