Port Grimaud

2017 is the fiftieth Anniversary of Port Grimaud.  Known as the 'Venice of Provence' and arranged into four little islands, the colourful houses are linked by bridges over the waterways and surrounded by gardens.  Port Grimaud was built by the visionary architect Francois Spoerry in the 1960’s.  He was a lover of sailing and the sea.  The Port is built on the lagoon of St Tropez, it was constructed with sailors and boating enthusiasts in mind, as you can go anywhere round the Port by boat, it is great fun and there are boats of all shapes and sizes from Dinghy’s to large Sailing Boats.

If you like boats, the sea, water sports and beautifully groomed beaches, this is the holiday for you. You can hire your own electric boat (no licence is needed) to have fun round the canals.

Port Grimaud is charming, plenty of thought has gone into the construction of the houses.  They are all different, Fisherman’s Houses, Balandrine’s, Ostale’s and apartments most with their own moorings for holiday rental.

There are two main areas in Port Grimaud, Port Grimaud and Port Grimaud Sud (South).  Both have a Beach in their own area. The Beach at PG Sud has a lovely cocktail bar and restaurant, they can be contacted via their web site.

There is visitors transport around the Port in the Coche d’eau (water taxi).

Shopping & Markets

Port Grimaud has many lovely shops, restaurants, cafes and bars and a great atmosphere throughout the year.  Most of these places are accessible by boat. In the Main Square at Port Grimaud 1 is Café Telline  and la table du mareyeur, a wonderful fish restaurant situated in Place des Artisans.

In Port Grimaud Sud’s Place Spoerry there is the bar/pizzeria La Caravelle and the wine bar and restaurant Grimaudoise. The food in all of the restaurants is lovely and the staff very helpful and friendly.

There are Provençal markets in the Place du Marche on a Sunday and Thursday and in Place Francois Spoerry on a Monday and Friday. There is also the Bateau Vertes which leave from Places de l’Eglise and the Capitainerie throughout the season (April – October), destination St Tropez.

If you would like to spend a day in the Bay and head for one of Pampalonne’s famous beach clubs for a day’s sunbathing and lunch, then please ask us to charter a boat for you.  We have many beautiful charter boats with a skipper.
